Volunteers help our organization grow and provide essential help to families in need.

Donation Sorting:

  • Volunteers are needed to help us sort donations that come in for our residents. Donation sorting takes place in our Sixth Street Shelter office building on Thursdays and Fridays each week. Volunteers must be able to stand for extended periods of time and must be 16 years of age or older. All volunteers ages 16-17 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers must complete child abuse clearances and state background checks before volunteering.

Gardening & Groundskeeping:

  • Volunteers are needed to help us beautify our outdoor spaces. Volunteer opportunity includes pulling weeds, planting new plants, cleaning up litter, and other needs that arise. Volunteers are asked to bring their own gardening gloves. Volunteers must be able to stand for extended periods of time and must be 16 years of age or older. All volunteers ages 16-17 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers must complete child abuse clearances and state background checks before volunteering. Activity is weather permitting during the Spring and Summer.

Administration Volunteer

  • Volunteers needed to support our staff in managing the front desk at Sixth Street Shelter. This role is ever-changing and would require an individual who is comfortable answering phones and helping with other administrative tasks such as mailings and greeting visitors. Volunteer must be 18 years old or older. The ideal candidate would be able to commit to long-term volunteering. Shifts vary and can be modified to accommodate the schedule of the volunteer. Volunteers must complete child abuse clearances and state background checks before volunteering.

  1. Please make sure your child abuse clearances and background check were completed and emailed to jhuber@caclv.org
  2. Come with water and anything else you may need for your shift (snacks, sunscreen, etc.)
